University of Colorado Cancer Center Research Facilities

The University of Colorado Cancer Center is primarily located on the Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora, Colo. In 2004, University of Colorado Denver completed new construction of two connected towers:

  • a nine-story, 345,000 gross-square-feet Biomedical Research Tower
  • a 12-story, 274,000 gross-square-feet Cancer Research Tower

The buildings house our shared core resource labs, research support programs, faculty and departmental offices, student teaching labs, graduate student instructional space and an auditorium.

The flexible, open laboratory design in both buildings brings greater efficiencies and increases communication among researchers. It also provides greater flexibilty for new research initiatives and allows developing programs to grow and relocate in the future.

Having basic scientists on the same campuses as  the clinical enterprise at the Anschutz Cancer Pavilion, University of Colorado Hospital and The Children's Hospital increases the exchange between basic and clinical researchers, allowing scientists to understand more quickly how to improve cancer therapies. In addition, the largest biosciences park, Colorado Bioscience Park Aurora, is under development on the north side of our campus, UCCC has the relationships and resources to make rapid drug development a reality.

Research space also exists on affiliate institution campuses, including:

  • AMC Cancer Center
  • The Children's Hospital
  • Colorado State University
  • Denver Health Medical Center
  • National Jewish Medical Research Center
