Immunology & Immunotherapy Program
The scientific discipline of Immunology has always had an outstanding reputation in Denver. Approximately 50 faculty-level immunologists generate a wide diversity of immunologic expertise in T and B cell biology and development, host defense and inflammation, apoptosis, autoimmunity and structural biology. Immunology in Denver has been recognized both nationally and internationally as one of the best PhD training programs in Immunology. Tumor immunology, immune surveillance and vaccine therapy play a part in the overall immunology effort.
Scientific Goal
To understand the basic elements of immunity and the mechanisms by which cancer cells evade the immune system then to use this understanding to develop new intervention strategies to reduce the cancer burden.
