University of Colorado Radiation Oncology Residency Program
One of the primary missions of the Department of Radiation Oncology at the University of Colorado Denver is to train future practitioners of radiation oncology. Because a radiation oncologist is an oncologist, it is necessary to provide training in all aspects of oncology.
- You will learn basic biology of malignant disease is taught through a radiation biology course.
- You will learn about the natural history of cancer and overall patient management through lectures, conferences, and daily discussions with faculty.
- You will receive detailed training through lectures and practical experience of radiation physics, including radiation safety.
- You will learn techniques of external beam, interstitial and intracavitary radiotherapy.
At the end of the program, you will be expected to understand the biology pathology, natural history, workup, and treatment approaches with radiation therapy, surgery, and chemotherapy. You will also be expected to be competent in the delivery of radiation therapy for patients with benign or malignant disease, as appropriate.
