2008 Poster Session Photos
Over 150 attendees came to enjoy 36 posters. Students discussed their research with members of the scientific community.
The pictures below represent a sample of the festivities on Thursday, August 7, 2008. We would like to thank the Cancer League of Colorado, the University of Colorado Cancer Center and the professors who supported the students this summer with guidance, teaching and a stipend.

Aarthi Shankar of Rampart High School in Colorado Springs, CO, displays her poster titled "Proteomic Characterization of Extracellular Matrix (ECM) to Identify Tumor Associated Biomolecules." Aarthi was selected as our only high school student in the fellowship. Her preceptor was Dr. Pepper Schedin, and she also worked closely with Dr. Kirk Hansen.

Michael Eby, a senior at the University of Pennsylvania reviews his poster "The role of Cse-4 in centromere formation and maintenance" with his preceptor, Dr. Jessica Tyler. Dr. Tyler's lab studies the epigenetic regulation of gene expression and genomic integrity.

Elizabeth Akin, who just graduated from Siena College in Loudonville, New York, stands in front of her poster "Protandim (a blend of phytochemicals) uses cell signalling pathways to induce the ARE in a synergistic and dose dependent manner." Akin's preceptor was Dr. Joe McCord, Professor of Microbiology and Immunology at the University of Colorado, Denver.
