Student Cancer Research Fellowship Program Requirements
The University of Colorado Cancer Center Student Cancer Research Fellowship Program has three main requirements. If you are selected to be a Fellow, you must sign a Student Agreement committing to these requirements.
- Orientation: Student Cancer Research Fellow Orientation is held during the first week of June. This one-hour meeting is mandatory for all fellows. We will cover program requirements, training requirements, ID badges and parking, stipends and more.
- Goals and Objectives: With the help of your preceptor, you will write a two-page, double-spaced report describing the goals of your research project. The report is due within 10 days of your start date. Your preceptor will also sign the report. When we receive it, you will receive 75 percent of your total stipend.
- Poster Session: All Fellows will be required to participate in the end of the summer Poster Session in early August. Poster board will be handed out at the end of July in the Education Office (see Jill Penafiel). If you are unable to attend the poster session, please contact Jill as soon as you know you have a conflict. After you participate in the Poster Session, you will qualify to receive the remaining 25 percent of your total stipend.
- Research Paper: If you are unable to attend the Poster Session, you will be required to write a double-spaced report of at least four pages that describes your project’s results, due at the end of your fellowship. Your preceptor will also sign your report. When we receive it, you will receive the remaining 25 percent of your total stipend.
You will also be required to complete online training for hazardous materials and for HIPAA.
