Equipment & Platforms

The Informatics Core has five servers, all housed in the University Data  Center:

• A file/print server (Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition)
• A production database server (Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition)
• A test database server (Windows 2000 Server Standard Edition)
• An internal web server for intranet applications (Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition)
• An external web server for internet applications (Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition)

In an effort to streamline development and maintenance, the team has adopted a policy encouraging applications to be deployed on a single platform: SQL Server / .NET.
