The Charlotte Geyer Foundation provides interim funding up to $100,000 to researchers who have submitted an original R01 or R21 proposal to the National Cancer Institute and have not received a fundable score.

The Charlotte Geyer Foundation supports research into the cause, prevention and treatment of cancer. The Foundation reviews proposals three times per year and awards grants up to $100,000 each. The Charlotte Geyer Foundation award is for a single resubmission. The award cannot run concurrently with other funding for the same project, therefore distribution of the award is made in increments throughout the granting period.

Preference will be given to abstracts related to translational breast cancer research. Minority Scholars Awards will be presented to postdoctoral fellows, clinical fellows, or the equivalent, who are the first author and presenter of a highly meritorious abstract accepted for presentation at the conference. Only the following minority groups that have been defined by the National Cancer Institute as being traditionally underrepresented in cancer and biomedical research are eligible for these Awards: African Americans, Alaskan Natives, Hispanics, Native Americans, and Native Pacific Islanders.

Investigator-Initiated Research (IIR)- IIR Grants provide up to $600,000 over three years to stimulate exploration of new ideas and novel approaches in breast cancer research and clinical practice that will lead to reductions in breast cancer incidence and mortality within the next decade. Special emphasis will be given to studies seeking to understand the basis for difference in breast cancer outcomes and translating research discoveries into clinical and public health practice to eliminate breast cancer disparities. Career Catalyst Research (CCR) Grants- CCR Grants provide unique opportunities for scientists in the early stages of their career to achieve research independence with an independent award of up to $450,000 over three years. CCR investigators lead a research project addressing an important question in breast cancer research and complete a self-defined career development plan with support from a mentor committee. AACR-Prevent Cancer Foundation Award for Excellence in Cancer Prevention Research: for seminal contributions to the field of cancer prevention.  The recipient of the Award will receive a $5,000 honorarium and will present a 50-minute lecture at the 7th Annual AACR International Conference on Frontiers in Cancer Prevention Research.The Conference will be held November 16-19, 2008 at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center in Washington , D.C. – deadline June 30, 2008
