It's no wonder a Nobel scientist is returning to CU
The recent announcement that Nobel laureate Tom Cech (member of the UCCC Molecular Oncology Program) will return to the faculty at the University of Colorado at Boulder is exciting news. One of the world's leading scientists, Cech stressed he was leaving his job as president of the prestigious Howard Hughes Medical Institute for what he called "the adventure" of teaching and research. Colonscopy rates increased by individual intervention with low-income and minority patients
Thomas Denberg, MD, PhD, and colleagues found an enormous problem with patients in safety net health systems skipping their scheduled colonoscopies or showing up inadequately prepared. The findings indicated the issue is prevalent in safety net systems across the country. This was the first study to formally characterize rates of colonoscopy within a safety net health system, looking at patient visits at Denver Health in Colorado. More >>>
