Small Intestine Cancer Treatment at the University of Colorado Cancer Center

The small intestine is part of your digestive system. It is a long tube that connects your stomach to your large intestine.

There are five  kinds of small intestine cancers:

Adenocarcinoma – cancer that starts in the cells that line some internal organs that have gland-like properties

Sarcoma – cancer of the bone, cartilage, fat, muscle, blood vessels or other connective or supportive tissue

Carcinoid tumors – cancers that grow slowly in the digestive system, usually in the appendix, and sometimes in the lungs

Gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GIST) – cancer that starts in the walls of the digestive tract. GIST can be benign or malignant

We Specialize in Small intestine Cancer

There are more than 100 different types of cancer. To ensure that we are always leading care at the cutting edge, UCCC has expert teams that each specialize in a small number of different cancer types. Because we are sub-specialized in cancers of the gastrointestinal system, we have treated the most common and the rarest types of cancer.
